Is my parakeet desperate for mate?

i have had many parakeets and they never need a mate just some to play with you or another bird if u dont have time to play with it then get it a freind but if you do then play with him if you get another bird it might be hard to befreind it it will choose the other bird over you two males get along just like a female and male
