Why do unwed parents get married AFTER the baby is born?

No because getting married just because you're having a child is one of the worst mistakes you can make. You get married for love, not children. If you wouldn't get married without the child, don't get married with it. And as for the child, there is no such thing as an illegitement child. All children are real whether parents are married or not.
