What is it like MOVING with the Air Force? My husband just joined and we got our ignment.?

My husband is in Tech School at Sheppard AFB, and he got his ignment which will be at Langley AFB in Virginia. Currently our house is in southern California, and I'm wondering what the moving process is like.. Once he gets his actual orders will we have more info? I'm just wondering how we find housing if base housing isn't available since we are so far away. Do they send him home after tech school so we move together? His ignment date is March 25th, and he graduates Feb 23rd, so will he be able to come home after that? This is all new to me, and I didn't know what is was like.. How the movers are.. do we drive our car across country? Is it easy when you have animals? any input would be great! Thanks!
