Can dry dog food break your dog's teeth?
Recently, during a regular checkup for our dog, our vet discovered that our dog, a Siberian Husky, had several chipped teeth. X-Rays would later confirm that thirty teeth in all would need fillings to repair chipping. We have absolutely no idea what could have caused the chipping, and our vet never said anything about his diet, suggestions or otherwise. I suspect it is one of two things, either the rawhide strips, or the dry dog food he is fed, since he doesn't normally chew on anything else. We've already decided to stop giving him the rawhides, but my primary concern is that the dry dog food itself may be causing damage too. We use Nutro brand Natural Choice, Lamb and Rice Formula. Can anyone offer any sort of insight into what kinds of damage dry dog food can do? If any?
