Webcam lighting help, please :D.?

So I just got a 1.3MP PC Camera webcam (gigaware brand) and I didn't really take the lighting of my house into consideration (I'm an idiot, I know.) So basically: I look like a complete troll on the cam, which isn't how I want to come across when I begin chatting with my pen pal. So, can anyone help me with lighting recommendations, like what type of lighting angle works bst for this cam. Or is it just something I have to suck up? also, I tested the cam at night, does using it during the day offer different results? thanks! Sorry if the questions seem stupid, but this is my first cam!
