Why are people saying that Novak Djokovic is the first Serb to win the Grand Slam...?

People... please do not say that Monica Seles is Hungarian because she is not. Monica's father was from Hungary but Monica herself was born in Yugoslavia therefore she is legally of Yugoslav nationality. When people say that Djokovic was the first Serb to win a grand slam they actually mean in the context of Djokovic being the first to win for Serbia as a separate and independent country that came to existence only in 2005-06 after its split from Montenegro.
